Unique and Beautifully Crafted Waistcoats

Advance notice:  I will not be despatching any items 15 July - 5 August  2009 - after that time I do not expect to close again until Christmas. Sorry for this inconvenience

27 May 2009 - I am thinking of writing a book about waistcoats.  If you have a Jackie Wills waistcoat and would like to tell your story - why you bought it, how often you wear it etc etc... or perhaps you have not purchased a waistcoat but would like to make some general comments - would be great to hear from you.

and now for a very different waistcoat - this is a commission - the theme requested was Dolphins of Knossos - and is now being worn by Prof. Charles Lyman in Florida.....  "Lissa said I looked handsome, so I wore it to the opening of the Chinese show at the photo museum which Lissa ( and I ) helped found in the last few years. It was generally admired, and one of the principals said he could always rely on my wearing something special. ( Florida Museum for the Photographic Arts, if you care to google it)"

 Recent Commissions

November 2008

Ref: 98 - November 2008 - Commission - Dr. C.S asked me to create a waistcoat for his wedding. He proposed to his wife whilst diving in the Red Sea - so the theme was to depict the underwater engagement - along with fish found in the red sea - purple anthais, batfish and lion fish - also seaweed. Bubbles in the form of hearts add a lovely romantic notion!

Below two waistcoats commissioned by JS - the grey one is particularly beautiful.  The blue one has a simple design inspired by piano keys.   Take a peep  through picasa gallery link to see  waistcoats with similar themes but very very different indeed.

Below: Detail - Wedding Waistcoat Commission - brief was to create Bridegrooms waistcoat with insects and chess board theme.

footnote: 1 Sept 08 - email received from M & B (extract)

"We are finally settling down again after a wonderful wedding summer. The wedding day was beyond our expectations in its intensity and meaningfulness. The item of clothing that attracted most attention was of course the waistcoat. There I was, in my white dress (extraordinary for me to be in a pretty dress) totally eclipsed by my husand's attire!

It is truely a wonderful peice of clothing, but also a piece of art, and a piece of communication and expression. We love it."

June 2008 - Brief was to create a wacky zany crazy waistcoat using vintage, cherished and recycled fabrics - with as much texture as possible.   Apparently Emma's client was thrilled.
